Governor Sanford to Embark on 30-plus City ‘Harvest Tour’

GOVERNOR TO TRAVEL STATE, TALK TO CITIZENS ABOUT NEED TO GET INVOLVED FOR REFORM

November 2, 2007

Columbia, S.C. - Governor Mark Sanford today announced plans to embark next week on a “Harvest Tour,” aimed at bringing his message of change to people across South Carolina.

For the next two weeks, the governor will be visiting with citizens around the state in more than 30 cities to talk about his goals and agenda going forward, specifically the need for more fiscal responsibility in Columbia, the need to restructure our antiquated government, the need to protect and preserve South Carolina’s unique quality of life, and the need to reform our educational system.

“What too often gets lost in the shuffle when folks are reading about or seeing these ideas we’ve been advancing is that things like spending and government structure have a real impact on their lives - and they are things that will have an impact on the lives of many generations to come if we don’t act to reform our state now,” Gov. Sanford said. “This tour is all about bringing that message to the people of this state so that they’ll know the importance of making their voices heard if we’re going to have a chance of making these critical changes to our state.”
