Governor’s Cabinet Meeting to Focus on Effects of Budget Cuts

ACROSS-THE-BOARD CUTS TO CORRECTIONS, OTHER AGENCIES
TO BE DISCUSSED TOMORROW MORNING

Columbia, S.C. - September 8, 2008 - Gov. Mark Sanford will hold a Cabinet meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, September 9, 2008) at 9:30 a.m. at the Statehouse complex (Wade Hampton Building, 1st Floor, Governor’s Conference Room).

During the meeting, the governor will discuss with his Cabinet directors the impact of across-the-board cuts imposed by the state Budget and Control Board last month. The governor has called for the legislature to instead make targeted budget cuts. Across-the-board cuts will create profound challenges for some agencies like Corrections, which was already projected to run a deficit this year.
